A Hungarian citizens are obliged to initiate the domestic registration of civil registry events that occurred abroad – marriage, establishment of a registered partnership, birth of a child abroad, and death of a Hungarian spouse, registered partner, child and parent abroad.

The basis for domestic registration is the foreign certificate of the civil registry event of a Hungarian citizen that occurred abroad (birth, marriage, death, divorce, establishment of a registered partnership) issued by the competent authority, certified by the Hungarian mission, or a certified Hungarian translation of the foreign document.

Please provide the English version of the Taiwanese document certifying the event that occurred in Taiwan with appropriate authentications (first notary public, then authentication by the Consular Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (BOCA) in Taiwan.

Domestic civil registration initiated at our Office is a long process that can take several months. Our Office only plays an intermediary role in civil registration, domestic civil registration is carried out by the Budapest Metropolitan Government Office (BFKH). As soon as the completed civil registration extracts arrive at our Office, we will immediately inform the applicant, which is why we kindly ask our clients not to inquire about the status of the civil registration with us, as our Office is not the acting authority.
